Planning Your Senior Portrait Session
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY SESSION?
I always recommend 3-4 outfits, and don’t forget your sports uniforms!
You should stay away from super bright, florescent tops, while fun, they can project color on your face in a photograph.
It’s always great to bring a few accessories with you. A cute hat or a stylish jacket can transform you from one look into another without the need for a complete wardrobe change.
Ladies: When making your clothing selection(s) please consider the cut of your top. Also, if you are thinking of wearing a dress or skirt, please keep in mind that we will be moving around a lot. Make sure to choose attire in which you will be comfortable and able to move. That said, dresses can make for some really fun and dramatic pictures!

WHAT ABOUT MY HAIR AND MAKEUP?
It’s always nice if you can get a haircut about a week or two before your session. That way it’s fresh, but it doesn’t have that “just cut” look. Wear your hair in a style that fits both your personality and the wardrobe you’ve selected. Try to stay away from hair styles that are too faddish, as they might look outdated down the road.

As for makeup, it all depends on the look you’re going for. It never hurts to go with something that’s understated, timeless, and accentuates your natural beauty. However, there are instances where a more dramatic look can work well too. In general, stay away from lipstick that’s too bold for your complexion, as it will distract from your eyes, which are the real focal point.

WHERE WILL MY SESSION TAKE PLACE?
You have choices! I have a studio if you’re looking for traditional studio portraits, Depending on your school yearbook requirements we may have to meet at the studio for a formal portrait. However, I do most sessions on location at a place (or places) of your choosing, and I have a long list of awesome locations that I’m happy to recommend. If you’re having trouble deciding, you also have the option to do half of your session at the studio and half of your session at another location.  *my availability to go to certain locations will also be dependent on the other sessions I have scheduled on the day of your portraits.

CAN I BRING FAMILY OR FRIENDS TO WATCH?
Certainly! If you’re comfortable with it, then I’m comfortable with it. Just be sure that your guests realize they’re there to support you and not distract you.

I also encourage you to plan on getting some family pictures, pictures with your parents/sibling and friends…even pets! (Just make sure you have someone to handle the pet when we’re shooting the rest of your session)

HOW LONG AFTER THE SESSION DOES IT TAKE TO GET MY ALBUM?
It typically takes 2-3 weeks for full editing completion. It’s probably tempting to ask me how the progression is going, but just know we are working very diligently to finish your beautiful images in a timely, yet quality manner.

CAN I ORDER PRINTS, ALBUMS, AND OTHER SPECIALTY PRODUCTS THROUGH YOU?
Yes, you sure can! You will have the print release and the ability to download the originals of all your images; however, if you still prefer to print products through me with my professional lab, you can inquire about printing, album design, and other product offerings through the website I send you.

HOW MANY IMAGES DO I GET?
I break down all of the images taken into the best collection that beautifully represents the scope of your session. I believe in quality above quantity, however a senior album usually contains anywhere from 50-75 images. These are all hand-picked and edited in detail, then delivered to you as well as posted in an online gallery.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?
All of my senior sessions take place outdoors on location, so I watch weather forecasts days before sessions to try to gauge if rain will affect the session. If it is the case, I will contact you and we will reschedule for another available session date that suits the both of us.
